It all started on Saturday night December 8th when thunderstorms developed over the area. On Sunday morning things above the ground surface had a little ice accumulation and it looked like we dodged a bullet.
The rain kept coming and the temperature was dropping. By Monday morning everything would look a lot different.
When I woke up and went outside Monday morning everything was covered in a lot of ice. Around 10 that morning the trees started breaking and crashing down. I thought it was weird that they started breaking around the same time but I guess they just couldn't take the weight anymore and finally gave out. We lost power for a little while when we were sleeping but it came back on about 30 minutes after we woke up. We got lucky unlike a lot of people that lost it for an extended period.
After it was all said and done over 600,000 people just in Oklahoma were without power.
